About Lorax Tree Removal. Quote, job, invoice. In that order.

Arborist's hands and equipment laid out neatly on the back of a work truck

Lorax Tree Removal exists because most of the tree-work industry runs on quote-and-upsell — the cheap sticker price that becomes a different number on the invoice once the cousin-with-a-chainsaw clause kicks in. We don't. The number on the quote is the number on the invoice. That's the whole pitch.

Who runs it

Garehn Kalloghlian

Owner & qualified arborist Arborist · Member, Arboriculture Australia

Owner-operator of Lorax Tree Removal. Quietly opinionated about doing the trade properly — qualified climbers, written quotes, full public liability insurance, no shortcuts on safety. Answers the phone himself.

Garehn started Lorax because the second-quote conversations were always the same: "the other guy quoted us $800 but we didn't know about the stump, the debris, the cherry-picker..." The maths only ever runs one way. Lorax is the firm that quotes the actual job, in writing, and turns up to do it.

What we do

  • Tree removal — small backyard up to major heritage with crane work. More.
  • Tree lopping & pruning — crown reductions, deadwood cleans, hazard branch removal. More.
  • Stump grinding — 200mm below grade, mulch in place or hauled. More.
  • Arborist reports — tree health, pre-purchase, council permit applications, hazard assessment. More.
  • Emergency response — storm damage, on-house, blocking access. More.

Where we work

Six Tier 1 metros across Australia:

How we work

  1. Free site visit, written quote in 48 hours

You call or send a message with the address. We turn up, look at the tree (and what's around it), and email a flat all-in number. No call-out fee, no obligation.

  2. Job day — same crew, same quote

The arborist who quoted is the one who climbs. Two-person ground crew, certified rigging, traffic plan if it's near a road. We don't sub the work.

  3. Invoice on the same number

Debris off-site, mulch left on request, stump ground or scheduled. Photos before/after on the invoice. Card or transfer.

Why "Lorax"

Yes, the Dr Seuss reference. The Lorax speaks for the trees because the trees can't speak for themselves. We try to do the same thing — half our job is talking homeowners out of removals that don't need to happen. Most healthy trees do better with a lopping than a removal; most "dying" trees aren't dying. The book's about not removing trees you shouldn't, which is a fair summary of what an honest arborist actually does.

One reference. We won't lean on it past this paragraph.

What we don't do

  • Don't quote without seeing the tree. Site visits are free. Photos miss access, slope, root systems.
  • Don't start work without permits in hand. Council fines for unpermitted removal of protected trees run $3,000–$30,000. We're not paying that. Neither are you.
  • Don't sub-contract jobs to whoever's cheapest. Same crew, same arborist, every time.
  • Don't tell homeowners their tree needs to come out if it doesn't. Half the trees we look at need pruning, not removal. Pruning is half the price.
  • Don't carry "starting at" pricing on the website. Too easy to abuse. The number on the written quote is the number on the invoice.
